Camels have 3 eyelids to protect themselves from blowing sand. According to britishllamasociety.org two of the eyelids have eyelashes, and the third one comes from the corner of the eye. The second row of eyelashes helps to keep sand and dirt out of the eyes. Although having 3 eyelids does sound weird and uncommon, many animals have 3 eyelids, such as dogs, cats, owls, bald eagles, frogs, and even hammerhead sharks.
