Rusty Kopeikin –– Journalist

Rusty Kopeikin has actively been writing for the student newspaper, the “Iniwa.” Although his writing has repeatedly appeared on the sports pages, he recently started to enjoy writing stories for the OP-ED pages. “Writing opinion pieces are fun, I get to use my own opinion, and I don’t have to interview or use quotes.” Controversies are one of his favorite things to cover for the “Iniwa.” “They are easy to talk about and it is great to write about something that I feel strongly about.” His favorite section of the “Iniwa” are the sports pages because “they inform him of the ups and downs of the GFHS teams.” Outside of writing, Rusty plays football, and spends time with his older brother, who graduated four years ago. He likes to write, even though it can be difficult meeting deadlines and brainstorming topics. “Knowing that my article may influence someone in the future makes it all worth it.”
